Content Isn’t Showing - Troubleshooting

When content doesn’t appear on screen, it’s easy to assume something is broken. In most cases, however, Vibe is working exactly as designed — the issue is usually a configuration detail that’s been missed or misunderstood.

This article walks through the most common reasons slides and content don’t show, explains why they behave this way, and helps you quickly confirm what needs adjusting. Following these checks will resolve the majority of visibility questions without requiring technical troubleshooting or support escalation.

Check the Playlist

This is the most common cause of “missing” content.  Vibe only displays content that exists inside a playlist assigned to a location (or screen). If a slide isn’t assigned to that playlist, it will never appear — even if it’s published, active, and looks correct elsewhere.

What to check
  • Confirm the slide is added to the correct playlist.

  • Confirm the playlist is assigned to the correct location (or screen).

Info
This matters because playlists act as the final gatekeeper. If a slide isn’t in the right playlist, Vibe assumes it shouldn’t be shown there.

Confirm Content items are Assigned to the Location

Vibe slides use content sources (web portal items that can be individually enabled or disabled per location. If a slide contains items but none are assigned to playlist for the screen you’re checking, the slide has nothing to display. When there is no content mapped to that location, here's a common alert you may see:
“This slide may not currently be visible or may not contain any content for this location”
What to check
  • Open the slide.
  • Check that at least one list item is assigned and active for the relevant location or screen.

Preview a Specific Screen

Vibe provides "Preview as" features so you can see exactly what a specific screen or location is receiving.

How to confirm in a Playlist
  1. Open the playlist assigned to the screen.
  2. Click Preview as.
  3. Select the screen or location you’re troubleshooting.
  4. Look at the right-hand panel — this shows what content is currently eligible to display.

How to confirm in a Slide
  1. Open the slide.
  2. Click Preview as.
  3. Select the screen you’re troubleshooting — this shows what content is currently eligible to display.
Info
If the content doesn’t appear in Preview, shows an alert, or is greyed-out, it won’t appear on the physical screen either. This removes guesswork and confirms whether the issue is configuration-related.

Content Shows Briefly or Skips

If a slide appears but disappears quickly, this is almost always due to a short duration time.
  • Open the slide.
  • Review the Duration value.
  • A default minimum time is always stated and may vary between templates, so you might need to ensure the time is long enough for all content items and images to animate through to the end of your slide.
Info
For more than 8 content items, try: a short Duration time, a small Number of Items to show, with a Display Order to Shuffle.

Only Some Items Appear

If you expect multiple content items to show but only see one or two, select a larger Number of Items to show.
  1. Open the slide.
  2. Check the Number of items value.
  3. Ensure it matches (or exceeds) the number of items you want displayed.
Info
For example: If you have 8 items but the slide is set to show only 4, Vibe is behaving correctly — it’s following your limit.

Advanced Scheduling Is Limiting Visibility

Advanced Scheduling allows slides to appear only during specific date and time windows. If a slide used to show but no longer does, this is a key area to check.
  • Open the slide.
  • Check whether Advanced Scheduling is enabled.

  • Confirm the Start and End dates and times.
    • If you want to show a slide all day, either:
      • Disable Advanced Scheduling, or
      • Set the time from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM.
Info
Important note: If the current time is outside the schedule, the slide will not display — even if everything else is correct.

The Slide Hasn’t Generated Yet

Some slides take a short time to process after being created or updated. When the slide is still being processed by the system, you may see this common alert:
“This slide hasn’t been generated yet”
What to do
  • Wait approximately 10 minutes.
  • Refresh the page.
  • Check again using Preview as.
Info
Slide generation delays are temporary and resolves automatically.

Common, Easily Missed Checks

It’s also worth quickly confirming hardware, connectivity or with other Vibe users on your team, as these checks often catch simple oversights that look like larger problems.
  • The screen is online and connected.
  • The correct location or screen profile is assigned.
  • Another team member hasn't made unwanted changes.
  • Recent edits were saved and published.

FAQ

How do I confirm the slide is in the correct playlist?
Open the playlist assigned to the screen, click Preview as, select the relevant screen or location, and review the right-hand panel. If it’s not visible there, it won’t appear on the screen.

What does the alert “This slide may not currently be visible or may not contain any content for this location” mean?
The slide exists, but no content items are active for that location. Enable or map at least one item to the screen.

What does “This slide hasn’t been generated yet” mean?
The slide is still processing. Wait around 10 minutes, refresh the page, and check again using Preview as.

My slide appears briefly or skips content. What should I check?
The slide duration is too short. Slides with multiple items, images, or animations require longer display times to cycle correctly.

Only some items are showing on my slide. Why?
The Number of items setting is limiting what can appear. Increase it to match the number of items you expect to see.
My slide was showing before but no longer appears. What changed?
Check Advanced Scheduling. If the current time is outside the scheduled window, the slide will not display.

How do I keep my slide visible all day?
Disable Advanced Scheduling, or Set the schedule from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM.
