Location Theme

Location Theme

The Locations in Themes is where you choose which location(s) a specific theme should apply to. Think of it as the map for branding: it lets you tailor a theme to each location so colors, logos, and fonts match what users see there. If a location is selected, the theme’s styling can be applied specifically to that place. If no location is chosen, the theme isn’t assigned to any location yet. This field sets the foundation for location-based branding, which slides can either follow or override depending on the slide’s settings.

Admin Portal's Theme Settings: Locations tied to a Theme

  1. The Admin portal's Theme Settings lets you associate a Theme with one or more locations.
  2. When a location is selected for a theme, that theme’s styling (colors, fonts, logos, etc.) can be applied to slides shown in that location.

Slide Editor: Selecting a Theme

  1. If a slide uses a Theme with “Use Location Theme” enabled for a location, the slide will display the location’s specific theme settings as defined in the admin portal.

  2. If the slide's theme is NOT set to "Use Location Theme", the following will apply:
    1. If user is assigned to a group associated with a theme, slide's default theme will be that user group's theme.
    2. If user is assigned to only one group, they cannot see themes from other groups

Default theme:
  1. You can leave the slide on Default Theme to use the system’s default styling. If you later switch to a location-based theme, it will pull from the admin location settings when “Use Location Theme” is active.
Notes
For Admin Users:
If an admin wants to create a slide using a specific theme, they must switch to that theme in the Slide Design tab before creating the slide.

Previewing content as a Location

What the Preview shows:
  1. "Preview content as" Shows how the slide will look for the location currently selected in the slide editor.
  2. If the slide uses a fixed theme (not using Location Theme), the preview will reflect that fixed theme regardless of location.
Default behavior:
  1. You can leave the Preview on Default. In this case, the slide will render using the default theme settings rather than a location-specific theme.
  2. If the slide is set to “Use Location Theme” for a location, the Preview will show the location’s theme as configured in the Admin Portal.
Impact on the screen:
  1. The preview is simply a tool to verify how the slide will look when deployed to that location.
Notes
For Admin Users:
If an admin wants to view a slide created by someone in another group, they need to use the Preview As option. (Most of the time it will be default to the proper group unless this slide can be accessed by another group)

Helpful tips

  1. If you want locations to have distinct branding, create per-location themes in the Admin Portal and set slides to “Use Location Theme” to honor those customizations.
  2. Always verify with Preview as the specific location to ensure fonts, colors, backgrounds, and logos render as intended.
  3. If you want a uniform appearance across all locations, avoid selecting per-location themes and keep slides on a fixed theme (or use a single default theme).

SSO Permissions for an Organization with Two Regions (Example)

This implementation outlines how Australian location will be added to the existing New Zealand site environment in a structured and scalable manner. Rather than creating a separate system or duplicating content workflows, this approach extends the current framework using Azure Active Directory group controls, mapped user groups in Vibe, and region-specific themes and licenses. The result is clear brand separation between NZ and AU operations, automatic theme enforcement, and correct device rendering across regions — all while maintaining centralized identity management.

IT Implementation Steps

Create Microsoft (Azure AD) Groups

  • Create a Microsoft group for each Australian location using the established naming convention.
  • Align structure with the existing NZ configuration.

Assign Australian Users in Azure AD

  • Assign AU staff to their appropriate location group.
  • Ensure users are not incorrectly assigned to NZ groups unless intentionally required.

By doing this users are clearly separated by region and only see what is relevant to their group.

Create and Map User Groups in Vibe

  • Create a corresponding AU user group in Vibe.
  • Map the Vibe group to its respective Azure group.

Azure group membership automatically governs Vibe permissions and theme visibility.

Assign the Australian Theme

  • Allocate the AU theme to the AU user group.
  • Ensure AU users only see the AU theme if they belong exclusively to that group.

When AU users create slides, the AU theme is automatically applied. NZ content and themes remain separate.

Create and Configure Australian Licenses

When creating AU licenses, ensure the following things are done properly.

  • The correct AU theme is selected
  • Permissions are assigned to the correct AU user group
  • Geo-location is configured accurately (required for certain infotainment slides)

AU devices will render with correct branding and location-based content functions properly.

Admin Guidance

  • When creating AU content, switch to the AU theme in Slide Design before creating the slide.
  • To review AU slides, use Preview As and select the AU group if required.

This ensures accurate viewing and creation of region-specific content.
