Install Guide - LG WebOS 3.2+


Install the Vibe.fyi player app

To set up your workplace digital signage, you’ll install the Vibe.fyi player app (webOS) on your LG SoC display or LG Digital Signage WebOS box. Before you start, have the following ready:
  1. The LG display or webOS box you’re installing the app on
  2. TV remote
  3. Wireless (USB) keyboard and mouse (Optional but recommended)
  4. Vibe.fyi Install URL Code

  1. Open SI Server Settings
    1. Press the Settings () button on the LG TV remote.
    2. Open EZ Settings.
    3. Select SI Server Setting.

  2. Configure SI Server Settings
    Within SI Server Setting, apply the following:
    1. Fully Qualified Domain Name – Turn ON
    2. Enter the webOS IPK download URL:
       https://download.vibe.fyi/webos/app.ipk?[your site]&[Authcode] 
      (You can find this in the Admin Console – see related article.)

    3. WarningImportant: Make sure there are no spaces in the Site URL or Auth code.
      Note: If you were given a custom download URL, use that instead.


    4. Application Launch Mode – Select Local
    5. File/Application Type – Select IPK
    6. Local Application Upgrade – Select Remote
    7. Select Confirm to start the download.



  3. Complete the install
    1. After a successful download & install, select OK.

    2. Use the LG remote to restart the TV (power off, then power on).

  4. Check logs (optional but recommended)
    1. Press the BLUE button on the remote to open the logs and confirm that slides have downloaded successfully.
    2. If you are using a keyboard:
      1. Press F2 to access logs (Blue button)
      2. Press F4 to access Vibe settings (Yellow button)

  5. Advanced commands (optional)
    1. If you need to update the firmware or app version, open Advanced Commands in the app and select the appropriate option.

First-time LG setup

Use these steps for LG SoC display or LG Digital Signage WebOS box (media player).
  1. Open the LG settings
    1. Using the LG remote, power the screen on.
    2. Press Settings on the remote to open the LG menu.
  2. Configure Network
    In General > Network, choose one of the following:
    1. Fixed (recommended) – Plug in the Ethernet cable.
    2. WiFi – Open General > Network and connect to a strong WiFi network.
    3. 3G/4G – Plug a USB dongle with an active SIM card into a USB port.
    4. Note: When using a USB device, open the LG Admin settings (default PIN is usually  0000  or  00000  ) and enable the USB Lock option.
  3. Configure Date & Time
    1. Go to General > Date & Time.
    2. Set the correct Timezone for your screen location.
      1. e.g. for New Zealand: Oceania > New Zealand > Auckland
      1. Turn Set Automatically ON.
  4. Adjust picture and power settings
    1. White Balance: Set to Mall/QSR.
    2. Power / Brightness (High Bright screens only):
      1. Open General > Power > Brightness and select AUTO.
  5. (Optional) Add an On/Off schedule
    1. Press Settings on the remote.
    2. Open EZ Settings and locate On/Off Scheduler.
    3. Set timers as needed, e.g.:
      1. For a daily restart, set an Off timer at 3:00am and an On timer at 3:05am.
WarningThe date and time must be correctly set according to the screen’s location. If not configured correctly, content scheduling and screen timers will not work as expected.

Alternative install with USB drive

If you can’t install via the network, you can install the Vibe.fyi Player app using a USB drive (storage device) with an offline IPK file.
  1. Prepare the USB drive
    1. Plug the USB drive into your computer.
    2. Create a new folder named Application on the USB drive.
    3. Download the latest app version from: https://download.vibe.fyi/webos/app.ipk
      and save it into the Application folder.
    4. When the download is complete, safely eject the USB drive.
  2. Install from USB on the LG screen
    1. Insert the USB drive into a USB port on your LG webOS screen.
    2. Using the remote, power the display on.
    3. Open EZ Settings > SI Server Settings.
    4. Set:
      1. Application Launch Mode = Local
      2. Application Type = IPK
      3. Local Application Upgrade = USB
    5. Select Confirm to start the install.
  3. Restart and launch
    1. When the installation is complete, use the TV remote to power the screen off and then on.
    2. Wait a few seconds for the Vibe.fyi app to launch.

Warning
Disable any Play via URL setting on the screen.
